About the Position
Commodities BuyerGold Coast{{}}Commodities Buyer Bustech is part of Australia's largest privately-owned bus manufacturer group. We are 100% Australian owned and operated and based in Burleigh Heads, QLD. We design, engineer and manufacture chassis' and bodies for mass passenger transit vehicles. Bustech has an established factory facility, with a production capacity of 160 buses per annum. We also have a group partner factory Precision Bus in Adelaide and joint venture arrangement in Tasmania. This is a rare opportunity to join our Design, Engineering and Manufacturing Team, to develop and integrate new technology into our extensive product portfolio. The Role The Commodities Buyer supports the Group's operations in Burleigh Heads (QLD), Adelaide and Tasmania and provides input into the strategic direction of the sourcing team, as well as managing relationships with Suppliers and Contractors. The primary responsibilities are to ensure materials are purchased to meet production schedules and targets. The role also manages purchase orders, request for quotes and maintaining relationships with suppliers. The role is responsible for executing and identifying cost-down initiatives in line with business goals. Your duties will include: Review prices and quality and ensure optimal stock levels. Evaluating vendors and preparing reports (eg. on orders and costs). Create and maintain good relationships with key suppliers to ensure goods meets quality requirements and delivered on time DIFOT (delivery in full on time). Research potential vendors. Compare and evaluate quotations from suppliers. Provide support to supply chain management to negotiate pricing. Track orders and ensure timely delivery. Review quality of purchased products. Enter order details (eg. vendors, quantities, prices) into Material Requirement Planning databases. Maintain records of purchased products within the SRP system and supplies. Prepare reports on purchases, including cost analyses. Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed. Align material requirements with the manufacturing schedule. Maintain the material plan within the ERP system. Measure and report key materials planning metrics - open / late orders and cost performance. Collaborate with business partners to ensure supplier demand forecasts support materials planning requirements. Analyse deviations to the outsourcing plan, identify root causes and report back to Management. What are we looking for? Experience with integrated manufacturing systems, ERP and computer scheduling. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and provide constructive solutions. Excellent business acumen, with a thorough understanding of the relationships between customer service, efficient manufacturing, optimisation of working capital, lead times, capacity and procurement.
